About Airport Security Force (ASF)
The Airports Security Force (ASF) protects Pakistan’s airports, airport infrastructure, and aircraft under the command of Pakistan’s Aviation Secretary. It undertakes anti-terrorism measures, prevents crime, and upholds law and order at Pakistan’s airports to protect the civil aviation industry from unlawful intervention. The current ASF commanding officer is Major General Zafar Ul Haq HI (M). The Airport Security Force was first set up by the Airport Security Force Act LXXVII of 1975. The Department of Civil Aviation was in charge of running the force.
After a Pakistan International Airlines plane was taken over in March 1981, the Airports Security Force (ASF) was created. In December 1983, it was moved to the Ministry of Defence because security and convenience were competing goals.
